You don't need to save more

Read Time: [X] min

Hey Reader,

Most people who try to build wealth assume they just need to save and invest more money.

They cancel their Netflix subscription, skip dinner with friends, or promise themselves they’ll save more from the next paycheck.

But what if saving more isn’t the real problem?

What if the money you already have simply isn’t doing enough?

And I’m not talking about investing in the stock market.

I saw this with my parents.

They immigrated to the US with very little and worked every day, including weekends and holidays, to support our family.

They understood how to work hard, spend carefully, and hold onto every dollar they could.

But nobody taught them what to do after they saved it.

Some of their money sat in bank accounts. Some of it was tucked away “safely” in the house.

They were doing exactly what they had been taught:

  1. Work hard.
  2. Save money.
  3. Leave it alone.

The problem is that this is only a small part of it.

I call money that doesn’t have a clear job “Lazy Cash.”

The frustrating part is that Lazy Cash rarely looks or feels like a problem.

It simply sits there while everything gets more expensive.

So before you make your life less enjoyable trying to save another $100, it’s worth asking a different question:

“Is the money I already have fully optimized and working as hard as it reasonably can?”

Over the next few weeks, I’m going to show you how I think about that question, and the simple Cash Strategy I wish my parents had learned decades earlier.

Let’s build,

Vincent
